How to Make Your Lash Extensions Last Longer
Understanding Lash Shedding
First, it's important to understand that losing a few lash extensions every day is completely normal. Your natural lashes have a growth cycle, and they shed naturally just like the hair on your head. When a natural lash falls out, the extension attached to it goes with it. However, if you're experiencing excessive shedding, there are ways to improve your retention.
Come to Your Appointment Prepared
Great retention starts before you even lie down on the lash bed. Always arrive at your appointment with squeaky-clean lashes. Any residue from makeup, skincare, or natural oils creates a barrier between your natural lash and the adhesive. The cleaner your lashes, the stronger the bond.
Watch Your Sleeping Habits
If you notice that one eye always loses lashes faster than the other, you're likely a side sleeper! Pressing your face into the pillow causes friction that can pull off extensions. Try to sleep on your back, or invest in a contoured sleep mask designed specifically for lash extensions.
Stay Away from High Heat
Extreme heat can actually singe the tips of your extensions or weaken the adhesive bond. Be careful when opening the oven door, leaning over a boiling pot, or using hair dryers and curling irons near your face.
Keep Up with Your Fills
The best way to keep your lashes looking full and flawless is to stick to a regular fill schedule. Waiting too long between appointments means your artist has to remove outgrown lashes and replace heavily shed areas, which might require a full set instead of a fill. We recommend booking your fills every 2 to 3 weeks.
